Esotericism & Chess
I recently read that the game of chess is like a miniature version of nature. Light and dark, good and evil, always in an endless battle. The chessboard represents our reality, with its black and white squares showing the duality within us. The pieces, white and black, clash in a continuous war. But the game never really ends; once the king is trapped with no safe moves, it's over for a moment, only to be reset and played again.
This made me think about jiu jitsu. We've all heard that analogy that jiu jitsu is human chess, but what does that really mean? Chess, on the surface, is just a game, but when you look deeper, it symbolizes something bigger. Every time we roll, we're playing out the battle of good and evil, both inside and outside ourselves.
