The I Ching
The I Ching, or The Book of Changes, studies the pair of opposites that guides all movements and forms - Yin and Yang. It dates back over 3,000 years and is one of the oldest texts in Chinese culture.
The I Ching was used as a tool of divination by the ancients. The core of the book consists of 64 hexagrams, each made up of six lines that can be either broken (representing yin) or unbroken (representing yang). The ancients created these hexagrams by tossing sticks onto the ground and studying the pattern they would create.
In studying the I Ching one can expect to begin to see the underlying patterns of constant change the universe presents to us. The ancients believed that through understanding these patterns of change you can align yourself with it and move as one with the universe.
